Stable Green Energy
Safeguarding the UK’s electricity network, sustainably.
Stable Green Energy is a 600MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), proposed by Lightrock Power. It would comprise of naturally screened rows of battery storage containers and their associated infrastructure, and would be located to the north west of Sand Hill Lane, East Sussex.
The system proposed would import electrical power during periods of oversupply from renewable generators when demand is low, which would otherwise be wasted. This power is subsequently exported back into the grid during periods of high demand, or low generation, offsetting the need to transport the energy across country or having to rely on fossil fuels. The project would deliver significant carbon savings, helping to decarbonise the UK electricity grid in line with UK Government targets. This is estimated to be in the order of 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per annum. It has been designed in partnership with RSPB, ensuring the best possible outcome for local biodiversity.
